A Street Festival was held on Kilimani Ring Road in July, where the i-CMiIST team managed to engage over 45 middle class residents in a participatory mapping session on ‘safety and transit routes’ around the case study area.
A review of the literature on different interventions to improve streetscapes has been made by the team. In engaging with the residents, they were provided with lots of suggestions about various methods and possible interventions that could be done in the area. A priority list has been produced. These are:
- Urban Greenery
- Creative pedestrian crossings
- Directional signs for pedestrians
- Creative bus stops and bicycle parking
- Street art and furniture.
These will be considered along with other suggestions as the project develops.
